What a good venue- right opposite Tufnell Park tube with plenty of space, seats (for old foges like me), and not a total scuzz-pit. Arrived in time for support band Vanilla Ride. Described as Kim Deal snogging Justine Frischmann and then the two of them going out to punch Courtney Love in the face’. Nothing special really- my feet weren’t tapping. Chatted to Simon, Lynda, Kev.S and folks we know from Buzzcocks gigs. Nice to meet Steve’s manager, Justin.

Diggle’s band hit the stage around 10-ish. Drummer Eamonn Sheehy had been replaced temporarily by stand-in Kev, (I think that’s his name). Brilliant brand new song ‘Hey Maria’ opened an interesting set.  Steve’s been busy writing so several great tunes featured live for the very first time. Oldie, ‘Autonomy’ sounded fantastic, drawing punters closer with everyone dancing and jumping around.

A fab rendition of ‘Alive Tonight’ kicked off the three song encore. Took me back years. Must dig out my early 90’s cassette. After sixty minutes of sheer energy it came to a close. Roll on Harlow Square, November 28th (plug, plug). Can’t wait!
