Pama International are fronted by long time musical cohorts Sean Flowerdew and Finny who have been on quite a journey so far this year with their popularity growing more as the year has gone on, in the spring they set out on a UK tour with The Levellers, an unusual pairing which actually worked well and after that a well documented support act for The Specials on their reformation tour. Tonight sees them on the 1st night of their headlining UK tour in support of their new album. Urban Roots set the evening up nicely from the start with some reggae dub sounds played in front of a huge video screen projecting some impressive images which complimented the music well creating the right atmosphere in the place for the nights events. Dubheart are a six piece reggae band from the south of England and do their best to warm up the Mr Kyps crowd who are encouraged nearer the stage to sample what Dubheart have to offer.  The venues pa system was pushed to the limit with the very heavy bass sound that were coming from the band. The crowd showed their appreciation  as the band left the stage.
Pama International have a member of Ska royalty with them tonight, the one and only Lynval Golding guitarist with The Specials, the band take to the stage and  Lynval's infectious personality gave some really great banter in-between songs. The band run through  some tracks from their soon to be released album "Pama Outernational" which shows their perfect combination of several genres 60's soul, 70's reggae and ska with the excellent voice of lead singer "Finny" who despite being a little inebriated can still pull off a great  soulful performance. During one of the new tracks "Equality and Justice for all" Lynval pointed out the band was made up of three white and three black members which show harmony within the band. The band leave the stage to huge applause from the Mr Kyps crowd, with them demanding  more and the band soon returned with a three song encore including "A Message to you Rudy" made famous by The Specials which got virtually everybody in the place up on the dance floor. Pama International are a great band who have boasted an all-star cast that has included members from; The Specials, Galliano, The Lee Perry Band, Pop Will Eat Itself, Steel Pulse, Style Council, Bentley Rhythm Ace, Madness and The Selecter this enables them to evolve and create new and exciting music, watch out the future because here they come.
